High-strengthened crystal glass
A high-strengthened glass "MJB5" is a special glass of which strength is increased by making the surface of glass keep compressed stress layer. It is widely used in cover plate of mobile and watch windshield.
A common glass will be broken when the strong power is added in a certain degree physically. It is due to the nature of glass that it is weak at tension. Therefore, if the compressed stress is added on the glass surface beforehand, glass might be strengthened. Even if the strong power is added, the glass does not break as far as the power of tension does not exceed that of compressed stress.
Glass is usually strengthened by chemical tempering method. Ion exchange method is one of the effective chemical tempering methods for enhancing glass strength. The smaller lithium ion (Li′) and sodium ion (Na′) can be exchanged by the larger potassium ion (K+) through this method. The exchange ion can form compression stress layer on the glass surface, and the physical strength of glass increases widely.
